SolusGuard Expands Safety Communication Capabilities with In-app Messaging Feature

Written by Corey Edington | Mar 12, 2025 8:38:00 PM

Overview

We’re excited to announce the launch of SolusGuard Messaging, a major update to our mobile safety application that significantly expands how teams can stay connected—especially in remote and high-risk environments. This new feature empowers users to communicate directly through the SolusGuard app using in-app messaging, improving flexibility, clarity, and safety across your organization.

With this update, users can now message one-on-one or in groups with any other SolusGuard user in their organization, outside of the alert-focused My Alert Feed (formerly called My Activity). This creates a clear separation between general communication and critical alert activity—streamlining response efforts when it matters most.

For our satellite users, the SolusGuard mobile safety app can now be used as a more robust direct and group messaging tool – improving communication capabilities in locations without cellular service.

Feature Version Release Dates

Version 1: April 14th, 2025

Version 2: May 20th, 2025

New Messaging Feature & Design Changes

Key Functionality:

  • Direct messaging: Start a private conversation with any SolusGuard user in your organization.
  • Group messaging:  Create group chats to coordinate with multiple users at once.
  • Multi-network Compatibility: Messages are reliably delivered whether you're connected via cellularWiFi, or satellite—giving field staff the ability to communicate with multiple people simultaneously across different networks.

Benefits:

We designed this feature with field teams in mind—especially those working off-grid. With SolusGuard Messaging, teams can now:

  • Coordinate more effectively in areas without cellular service.
  • Communicate quickly and easily with off-grid staff.
  • Separate emergency alerts from operational updates.
  • Improve team coordination in remote and high-risk locations.

Version 2 Improvements:

The newest version contained three key improvements to enhance messaging usability for those on satellite:

  1. Ability to search the user directory and start new 1 to 1 or group chats while connected via satellite.
  2. Ability to invite new users to an existing chat group while connected via satellite.
  3. Ability to leave a chat while connected via satellite.

Updated App Design

To support this new functionality, we’ve made a few updates to the SolusGuard home screen:

  • Alert Teams: Formerly "Teams"—now reflects communication focused on real-time alert response.
  • My Alert Feed: Previously "My Activity"—focusing on alerts and critical emergency communication.
  • SOS Tab (for wearable panic button only users): A new, dedicated space for SOS functionality.
  • Device Tab Removed (for wearable panic button users): Device features are now available in the blue footer or through the menu.
These changes simplify navigation and improve access to the features you use most.
