Satellite Communication & Alerts

Stay Connected & Protected - Even Without Cellular Service

When staff operate in remote or off-grid locations, maintaining a reliable safety system is critical. SolusGuard's fully integrated satellite extender and communication tools ensure that every team member remains secure and connected - even beyond cellular range.

Off-Grid Connectivity

Stay connected at all times

A paired satellite extender keeps the safety system working past the edge of cellular coverage, and every worker can still reach their team directly - one-to-one or as a group - no matter which network gets them there.

Satellite Extenders

When cellular drops, the system doesn't.

The Bivy Stick satellite extender pairs to the phone over Bluetooth. The moment a check-in, alert, or message can't reach a cell tower, it automatically reroutes over satellite instead, straight to the SolusGuard server.

Configured to extend the capabilities of the SolusGuard app only - check-ins, alerts, and messages. Designed to ensure satellite activity is specific to SolusGuard.

In-App Messaging

One-to-one and group messaging, on or off the grid.

Workers can message a single teammate directly or loop in the whole crew at once, right from the same app they are already using. Every message routes the same way a check-in or alert does, so the team stays in sync no matter the connection.

The app prioritizes the fastest route - when available, it will automatically opt for cellular over satellite.

How it works for staff working in remote locations

4 steps to consistent safety communication

Activate the satellite extender

When employees work in areas without cellular coverage, power up the satellite extender and ensure it has a clear view of the sky. This establishes a reliable satellite connection.

1
2

Connect the SolusGuard mobile app

Open the SolusGuard mobile safety app and enable satellite connectivity with the tap of a button. This seamlessly bridges the mobile app with the extender, ensuring uninterrupted communication.

Continue communication and alerts

Employees can keep using the app's familiar features - two-way messaging, check-ins, and SOS alerts - all powered by the Iridium satellite network. This guarantees consistent safety communication, no matter where they are.

4

Trigger a rapid response

If an employee misses a check-in or triggers an SOS alert, the system promptly notifies their contact network, monitoring agents or the designated internal security team with the employee's exact GPS location, ensuring swift action.

FAQ

Satellite Extender: frequently asked questions

The SolusGuard Satellite Extender is a pocket-sized satellite communicator that pairs to a worker's smartphone over Bluetooth and carries SolusGuard check-ins, two-way messages, and SOS alerts over the Iridium satellite network. Setup is plug-and-play - unbox it, power it on, connect it to the app - and it gives the SolusGuard mobile safety app a working connection in places with no cellular coverage at all.

Yes. The SolusGuard mobile safety app automatically reroutes check-ins, alerts, and messages over a paired satellite extender when a phone can't reach a cell tower, using the Iridium satellite network for global, 24/7 coverage. No manual switch is required.

The Iridium satellite network. Iridium is a low-Earth-orbit constellation that covers the entire planet, including remote bush, open water, and polar regions where cellular networks and regional satellite services have gaps. SolusGuard alerts and check-ins can be sent 24/7 from anywhere with a clear view of the sky.

No. The SolusGuard app always prioritizes the fastest available route: it uses cellular whenever there is a signal and falls back to the paired Satellite Extender when there isn't. Workers never choose a network, flip a setting, or resend a message - the routing happens in the background.

More than SOS. Over a paired Satellite Extender a worker can send and receive two-way messages, either one-to-one or with a group, run timed check-in sessions, and trigger an SOS alert that includes their GPS location. The satellite connection carries the same core SolusGuard safety workflow used on cellular.

Up to 120 hours of battery life, or roughly five days, on a full charge. That covers a multi-day rotation or a remote shift without a mid-shift recharge. The extender runs on its own battery rather than drawing power from the worker's phone.

Yes. The SolusGuard Satellite Extender is waterproof, dustproof, and freeze-resistant, so it holds up to rain, snow, mud, and cold-weather shifts. It is small enough to clip to a pack, belt, or vest and then forget about until it's needed.

No. A cell booster only amplifies an existing cellular signal, so it does nothing where there is no tower at all. A satellite phone is a separate device with its own number and interface to learn. The SolusGuard Satellite Extender instead adds satellite connectivity to the phone and app a worker already uses, so the safety process doesn't change when coverage does.

Satellite service is provided as part of your SolusGuard plan rather than as a separate carrier contract a worker has to manage. Pricing depends on team size and how many workers need satellite coverage, so contact the SolusGuard team for a quote.

No. The SolusGuard app does not continuously track an employee's location. Location is only shared while a worker has an active check-in session running, or after they trigger an alert. Outside those two moments, no location data is collected or visible to anyone.
